There isn’t much free stuff handed out at Art Basel Miami Beach.

In an exception to this rule, AXA Art, the insurance company, has donated its artist-designed Art Basel lounge to the Miami Art Museum, according to Christiane Fischer, President and CEO of AXA North America. The lounge was used during the Dec. 2009 fair for entertaining clients and guests.

AXA’s lounge, consisting of laser-cut cardboard furniture, pixilated walls, video loops and cellular designs, was created by four artists from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. The team included Beverly Fishman, Elliott Earls, William Massie and Heather McGill. A video about the lounge here.

AXA has been associate sponsor of Art Basel Miami Beach for five years.

In related news, the Miami Art Museum has elected nine new trustees: Steven J. Guttman, Mark H. LaRoe, Juan P. Loumiet, Rodolfo Luzardo, Deryl McKissack, Mark E. Oren, M.D., Arthur Halsey Rice, Enedia Roldan and Dennis Scholl.

The Miami Art Museum moves to a new Herzog and de Meuron designed building in 2013. Earlier this year museum director Terence Riley resigned.
