Blum & Poe Upgrade to New Digs
As Sotheby’s and Christie’s contract their West Coast operations, Los Angeles dealers Timothy Blum and Jeff Poe are expanding their gallery with a move to a newly renovated 21,000 square foot building, opening on October 2.
Blum & Poe, whose artists include Mark Grotjahn, Sharon Lockhart and Takashi Murakami, enlisted Escher GuneWardena Architecture to transform a two-story concrete 1968 manufacturing building into three exhibitions spaces plus a smaller 2,400 square foot space for performances, films, lectures and curated exhibitions.
The Santa Monica gallery, founded in 1994, helped pioneer the Culver City Art District as the first gallery to move into the area in 2003. The new building at 2727 S. La Cienega Boulevard is across the street from the former location.
To celebrate their 15th anniversary, the gallery will mount a group show on view through November.
