Heritage Auction Galleries To Open in NY, LA
The Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries plan to open exhibition and auction sales rooms in Manhattan and Los Angeles in 2010, according to dealers and sources at the company. The 57th Street Fuller Building space vacated by Bonhams is among front-runners for the New York venue.
Heritage, who are primarily known for churning over vast quantities of collectibles and coins, have begun handling the sale of more fine and decorative arts and furniture. In addition to the Dallas headquarters, Heritage has offices in Houston, Texas, and Boca Raton, Florida.
Plans are underway for a December auction in New York City, at a yet to be determined location, of modernist furniture from London dealer Michael Playford.
The company has a ticker on the home page of their website indicating that they have sold $707 million worth of goods in the past 12 months.
