Forty galleries out of the 150 who exhibited at Frieze in 2008 didn’t return for the 2009 edition of London’s contemporary fair, which ran earlier this month.

Drop outs included major New York dealers Tanya Bonakdar, Friedrich Petzel and Metro Pictures. In total 9 US dealers didn’t return, including Rivington Arms which has closed.

Twenty-four new exhibitors were added to the main gallery section, plus 29 younger dealers in a new section titled “Frame,” featuring solo artist presentations from galleries in business for fewer than six years.
