As art fairs struggle to retain exhibitors, a new modern and contemporary fair taking place in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 19-22 has managed to sign up forty-eight names, including PaceWildenstein, Gagosian, Acquavella and White Cube.

The fair takes place at the Emirates Palace hotel.

Abu Dhabi Art is organized by the government’s Tourism Development & Investment Company and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage. The fair is part of the region’s cultural development, along with the Zayed National Museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

The international committee includes Christie’s owner Francois Pinault, artist Jeff Koons and collector Anupam Poddar.

The fair won’t be the only attraction. It coincides with the opening of The Guggenheim: The Making of a Museum, the first show in the Middle East of works from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Public events include panels featuring speakers such as Anthony D’Offay and Larry Gagosian.
