George G. King, director of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, has resigned to head the American Federation of the Arts (AFA). The AFA organizes art exhibitions which are exhibited at international museums. King starts at AFA August 1. The O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will hire a search firm as they begin looking for a new director. The O’Keeffe Museum’s collection includes 3,000 items, with a $28 million endowment.
King had served as director for over 10 years. Previously he was director of the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, New York.
